Attend an Austin FC Game
Austin’s very own soccer team, Austin FC, was founded in 2018, and debuted in the MLS (Major League Soccer) 2021 season. It’s only their second season and the team already has a die-hard fan base and is a top contender to win the MLS Cup. Austin FC’s state of the art stadium is also an attraction within itself. Q2 opened its doors during the summer of 2021 and has been pleasing fans ever since. The arena offers a wide variety of local food and beverage options, merchandise hubs, and even a sports bar. Valentina’s, Pluckers, Bao’d Up, Easy Tiger, and TacoDeli are only a few of the options Q2 has to offer. When Austin FC is on the road, the north side of the stadium keeps PointsBet Sports Bar open to allow fans to gather and watch together.

Swim in Barton Springs
Barton Springs is a spring-fed pool that holds the same temperature year round and about 68 degrees. It’s cold at first, really cold, but after a few moments of letting your body get used to the temperature it feels absolutely amazing. This spot is located off Barton Springs Road across the street from Zilker Park. Depending on age and residency, it only costs $1-$9 to get in and enjoy your day of swimming. So whether you’re in the mood for a polar plunge or need to cool off on a hot summer day, Barton Springs is the place for you.

Check Out Austin’s Best Food Trucks
One thing mostly everyone knows about in Austin is the food. The city is known for its BBQ, breakfast tacos, and Tex-Mex cuisine that keep residents happy and visitors coming back. Something unique about the food scene though is that brick and mortars aren’t the only establishments that attract customers. Austin has food trucks, tons of them. To be exact, there’s over 1000. These trucks pump out delicious meals while establishing a fun and casual atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Some spots we recommend are Valentina’s, Micklethwait, Veracruz All Natural, El Primo, Spicy Boys, Tommy Want Wingy, Via 313, and Gourdough’s.
Adventure at Lady Bird Lake
Lady Bird Lake, also known as Town Lake, is a reservoir on the Colorado River that runs right through the heart of Austin. The lake offers tons of outdoor activities for you and your furry friends. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail surrounds the water allowing hundreds of people and pets to walk, bike, and run. The lake is also surrounded by green areas and dog parks including Zilker and Auditorium Shores. On the water there are tons of different activities to try including paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and even boat tours.
Enjoy Live Music
It’s no secret that Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World. Austin’s 250 live music venues host more than 1,900 bands and artists a year. Austin also hosts major music festivals as well. SXSW (South by Southwest) is a 10-day event that celebrates music and film which brings in 100,000 people. Another major Austin festival includes Austin City Limits, which draws over 450,000 people each October. If you’re not into the festival scene make sure to check out a popular venue any given night for some live music. We recommend Stubb’s, Mohawk, Cedar Street, Moody Amphitheater, Emo’s, The Roosevelt Room, and The Continental Club.
Bar Hop on Rainey Street
If you’re a fan of day drinking then Rainey Street is a must. Any given Saturday or Sunday locals flock to the popular bar district to party under the sun. There are tons of different bars offering up great deals but we have a few favorites. For a calmer vibe The Alibi, Half Step, and Lucille are the go-to’s. For a more upbeat atmosphere you’ve got to check out the Parlor Room, Icenhauer’s, and Bungalow. There are also amazing food options including Emmer & Rye, Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden, and Spicy Boys.

Shop on South Congress
Debatably the most notorious street in Austin, South Congress Avenue, is home to a wide variety of shops and restaurants. For years Austinites have been taking advantage of what used to be a hidden gem. What was once a lowkey street with bizarre shops and local restaurants has completely turned into Austin’s very own Sunset Boulevard. The street has completely changed over the years but still has some of its old charm with stores like Uncommon Objects, Monkey See Monkey DO, and Big Top Candy Shop. There are also amazing food options including quick and casual options like Home Slice, Magnolia Café, and Guero’s. For a fancier occasion check out Aba, Perla’s, or Lucky Robot.
